About Joe Kowalski
I have been making videos since I was ten and haven't stopped since, especially since joining YouTube under the name PogieJoe in 2010 and later became a YouTube Partner in 2011. I worked heavily on the Sportsman Channel show The Outdoor Option from 2013 to 2015 as an editor, cameraman, and head of digital media and wrote/directed/edited 2014's One Day: A Musical. I continue to be involved in film and video projects on a regular basis, including my latest feature film that I also wrote/directed/edited: Billie Bob Joe.
My many projects have allowed me to work with a variety of people such as New York Times best-selling author John Green, the podcast smash hit Welcome to Night Vale's Cecil Baldwin, Silence of the Lambs director Jonathan Demme, Matilda's Mara Wilson, CHiPs star Erik Estrada, Buffy the Vampire Slayer's James Marsters, OKGo's Damian Kulash, and many many more.
My current YouTube passion has been a series of interviews I have been doing on various amazing people primarily in the arts which you can find under the series title of "A Chat With..."
My other interests include music and writing. Favorite films/TV include Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, anything Joss Whedon related, The Muppet Movie and Show, Louie, Citizen Kane, Sunset Blvd., Breaking Bad, Twin Peaks, Bob's Burgers, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
I am also a Pixar maniac and an ardent Beatles fan. I am even a strong defender of Paul McCartney's solo work, which can sometimes be an uphill battle. Other music I am enraptured with: Elliott Smith, They Might Be Giants, The GOASTT, Beck, Randy Newman, Radiohead, Lemon Demon, OKGo, Eels, Billy Joel, and The Magnetic Fields. If I had to choose a favorite author I'd stick with a tie between Daniel Handler (A.K.A. Lemony Snicket) and Roald Dahl as they have helped provide me with a wonderful childhood and really taught me the ropes of writing.
Although born in Oberlin, OH, I now live in Shaker Heights, OH and attend Cleveland State University.
"Pogie" came from a nickname for me when I was little.
